The World Indoor Championships in Doha got underway early this morning. The 400m were first in action. Gillick was first and dominated his heat with an impressive win in 46.72 clocking the fastest time of the morning. The DSD man lead from start to finish taking a strong early need easing up towards the finish.

Clonliffe man Brian Gregan got his first taste of senior global championship action with a credible 3rd place finish in heat 4. The Tallaght - born man finished in 47.26 which was good enough to rank him fourth among the non automatic qualified athletes with the top 2 finishing as fastest losers.

In the mens 800m despite a seasons best by David McCarthy) (Le Cheile) this was not good enough to see him through to the next round as he managed fourth

Also Deirdre Ryan failed to make the final as she jumped 1.85m
